Today marks the end of the first week of kindergarten here in New Orleans. There were moments filled with tears, bumps and bruises, nap time, giggles, new friends, missing mom, new experiences and so much more. What a week! I'm struck by the novelty of something like school for these little bitty souls. Struck by these kinder babies' bravery to march into the building each morning and spend the day growing their brains. However, I can't say yet who will learn more over the course of this year- me or my students.
Here's to seeing each day with the eyes of a child, savoring the sweet little flowers drifting by in life, and taking time to cherish beauty with innocent delight.
Our nation, in particular, could use more vision like that.
